What Is an ATS Panel?

Auto Transformer Starter (ATS) Panel is an electric motor starting panel developed to minimise high inrush current when starting a motor. It has an auto transformer that delivers less voltage to the motor when it starts and then progressively transfers to full voltage when the motor reaches a preset speed. Large induction motors that do not have direct-on-line (DOL) starting would usually be started using ATS panels because direct-on-line starting would result in an excessive current draw and voltage drops.
